Sacking the coach isn’t the answer!!!

June2

It has been said that the Melbourne football coach will be sacked this week.  The success or should I say non-success of the Melbourne Football club has been discussed for sometime in our local newspapers.  100 point thumpings and the supposed lack of effort has been analysed by many, with varied conclusions. Something does have to happen and maybe Mark Neeld isn’t the answer as a coach (though the teams effort against Hawthorn did look better), however changing the coach isn’t going to bring about the success that is being looked for. Mark Neeld is only one small part of this system. It is how all the other parts interact with the coach and the inter-dependencies that are important.  I’ve embedded a video of Russell Ackoff (20 years ago) that still is relevant today as he explains the danger of just looking at one part in isolation.  You can find this on the “Thinking Sport” page.
