I have posted my final reflection for the CEOM Web2 course on the Web2 tool page. I hope everyone has enjoyed the learning as much as I have. It has certainly got me inspired and even though the course is complete my explorations will still continue.
Discovered Glossi today. Glossi can be used to create and view great digital magazines. It is very easy to use. Text, Images and videos can be inserted. The magazine can be viewed for IPAD or computers. Templates are provided but it is possible to customise it for your needs. The Glossi can be shared and can be added to your site or blog. I could see this being quite useful in a classroom. Magazines could be created by the teacher for learning particular concepts or students could create their own. I haven’t checked out the legalities of children using or appraised any pitfalls there could be for students so it would be worth checking this out further.
Well, just experienced my first bad experience when using social media. My twitter account was hacked. Fortunately, most people seem to have realised that it wasn’t me sending the stupid messages and as soon as I changed my password it did stop. I do hope no one opened the link or was disadvantaged by it. It was a bit of an eye opener though. I think twitter has great potential as do many other social spaces so it is disappointing that some people use their skills and time and energy in such a negative way. I think it highlights the fact that we have to be vigilant, we have to change our passwords regularly and sign out of sites. I was very grateful to the people that alerted me to what was going on so I think it is a good thing that we are vigilant for others as well.
Discovered a site today called Learnist. It is meant to be Pinterest for teachers. I have decided to have a bit of an explore. As yet, I don’t feel it is as user friendly or has as large a choice as Pinterest but I will keep an eye on it. Google it and see for yourself.
I’ve created a new page called “Creative Commons” because Kath Morris, who has a great deal of experience in blogging, has highlighted the frequency of bloggers and others using images incorrectly. Kath has created and shared some great resources. I recommend you follow Kath on Twitter @Kathleen_Morris
This chart depicts a snapshot of personalised learning. It was created using Piktochart, a new tool that I discovered throughout the Web2 course I am currently undertaking. Piktochart provides the opportunity to select from a number of themes, insert text, icons, and pictures. It also includes graphics. The drag and drop concept makes Piktochart fairly user friendly.
Just created a glog on glogster. Had some difficulties with uploading audio. I am fast learning that I need lots of extra software but am amazed at how I am navigating all the instructions to new sites and downloads etc. I decided against putting up a video, that will be a future action. My glog is called Gnomesville. The link for gloster is –
